10 Ice cubes
1 Frozen (or fresh) Banana
Milk
½ tsp Vanilla
¼ C Splenda or Sugar
This is a good recipe to use an overripe banana. I had put some in the freezer, which were getting too ripe so they would not spoil before I used them. First get out your blender and set it up. Add the 10 ice cubes to the bottom of the blender.
Take your banana out of the freezer. If it still has the skin on, put the banana under cold running water for a few seconds to soften the peel. Do not thaw the whole banana, just enough so you can cut the peel off with a knife. Cut the banana into chunks and add it to the blender.
Add enough milk to almost cover the ice. I just estimate and you can add more milk if the blender has trouble crushing the ice. Next, add the Splenda or sugar. Put the lid on the blender and turn it on ice crushing. If you don’t have this function, use the highest setting on your blender. Pulse it on an off at first, to get the blades moving, and see if you need more milk to make it work. Then keep blending until all the ice is crushed. You may have to stop a few times and stir with a spoon to get it moving if the ice gets stuck.
Once the ice is crushed, add the vanilla, then blend for another 30 seconds or so to blend it in. Now taste to see if you want more sweetener or not. If not, you’re done, just poor into a glass and enjoy!
This makes about 2.5 cups of smoothie. If you try this recipe, please comment below!
